Wanting to do a 5.3L swap in my 87 chev i recently bought . well fairly recently . If things go according to plan i should be able to do this in about 3months .

Old 5.7L is on its way out the door . And i want the improved power and fuel mielage of the 5.3.

Plenty of people ahve done it and there is even a kit . But my skill level is low . Who is can i trust to do a good job here in FW ? And how much should i pay so i dont get overcharged for the job ?

i plan on doing one of these swaps in the future

although after looking around on the webs i think i'd do a carb'd ls over efi if it's not a daily driver. fuck it even if it is a dd i'd still rather do it carb'd

You can buy the swap kit for like $550. Meaning all the mounts for motor tranny and shit. Then you can get a harness for like $600. PLug n play. Now idk how you would run it to the old gauges. Doubt you can. :/

There's a little more to it than that Think fuel system, tune, misc ( radiator houses that you can't just walk in and order etc) driveshaft etc etc etc.

Granted it isn't rocket science but for someone that doesn't know how to do anything but bolt on parts it isn't going to be as easy as it seems like

I was thinking about doing this to my 90 Gmc 1500. I'd be fine with the 4.8 or the 5.3. The performance and gas mileage of this 305 flat out sucks. If you do it, let me know how much it costs.
