  • Modifying explorer intake for boost

I've gotta pull my intake to drill and tap the #5 runner for the air temp sensor and when i'm doing that I need to figure out what to do with all of the vacuum ports in the intake. Right now they all have little plastic caps on the ends of them but I imagine that this is going to blow off when the intake builds up pressure. I'm thinking of pulling each pipe/port out and drilling/tapping for plugs. Is this the best way to do this or is there a better idea?

Right now the only things running off of the intake vacuum are the EGR valve which I dont want to run but I havent bought an EGR delete plate yet and the tube/pcv check valve that goes from the back of the lower intake to the vacuum port on the upper. What should I do there? Leave it and put some clamps on it or can I attempt to get rid of it?

I need to figure out what to do for the vacuum line that runs to the wastegate and BOV as well. Maybe i'll tap one of the holes and put a T or something to run those two items.

    Thanks
    -Nick

Where should it be moved to? Maybe somewhere in the intake tubing?

I've gotta carry it up to oriellys real quick and get a socket to fit it. My largest deep socket is only 7/8ths.

Heck, I'm not even using zip ties. I only had to cap one line and I just used a rubber cap that fits snug over the line. Autozone has an assorment pack of these for like $4. As long as the cap slides on snug it's not going anywhere.

My 1" wrench is not a box on one end and its pretty shitty thats why it wouldnt work.

1" deep socket got it out. Now I have to try and track down this 3/8ths tap.

This little project is starting to suck.

No luck at home depot, oriellys or autozone.

I did manage to buy a 16$ 9/16ths bit then have it hang while using my hand drill which spun and punched me in the side of the head and snapped the brand new bit! I really need a drill press

I'm gonna try Elliots Hardware in the morning, they're pretty close to me. If they dont have it then i'll hit up dickson.
