  • cable issues

Well, at first my stretched cable was causing the trans to grind and not allow it to go into gear. I thought if I replaced the cable it would be good.

After the cable replacement, I can put it into gear. If I start releasing the clutch it will begin to move, but then the trans acts like it pops out and makes a terrible grinding noise like before.
Do I need to reset the stock "self-adjusting" quadrant, or would that not be the issue? The cable does seem to be pretty tight. If I can't fix this soon, I just want to do a t56 swap...I want one again.

Reset the quadrant and see if it helps. It's quick and easy, put foot under clutch pedal and pull it up then push clutch pedal back down. If it's working correctly then you reset it by pulling the pedal up.

          Shifter stop bolts.

Had this issue with 1st gear after l swapped in the t5z. Would roll out, then pop and grind like a mo fo..

Back out your shifter stop bolt on the back of the shifter.

          Good luck.

I messed with that a little after I swapped the cable...it made it slightly better, but I still couldn't engage it.
I'll do it properly tomorrow. I adjusted those bolts with the skill of a blind monkey in the parking lot.

What cable are you using? I had the same problem and went with An adjustable cable. Problem solved.

went back with a stocker, and it helped a lot.
I will adjust the shifter properly, and if that doesn't work, I'm getting a MM adjustable cable.
