Axles are controlled on one end by the carrier bearings......if you really think axles are flexing carrier caps, you guys go ahead on down that road. Let me know what you find....

I was thinking more like the clutch pack making the noise due to lack of oil or additive.

Be prepared to pay since it has aftermarket gears in it.

Its all cool. I appreciate any input. Checked the gear oil. Besides the disgusting odor, no sign of metal shavings under all types of light.

prove to me how my 3.73's caused a wheel bearing to go out.

Not enough shim in the carrier bearings and the carrier is floating back and forth some? I've seen this happen before when someone gets in a hurry putting gears in.

You're right, that could be the case. Would the noise, though, not be appearant for a few thousand miles, trn start giving me hell?

Idk if they were in a hurry, but while I waited, it took 8 yes 8 fucking hours to do it. I got there first thing in the morning (rush hour traffic) and then didnt get to leave until 5 (rush fucking hour traffic) and didnt get home til 630. I was so pissed off that day.

Im depend on the magnuson moss act. I know Joel, their fixed op coordinator pretty well, and dont think that he would dick around with me. Out family has purchased an explorer, 3 expeditions, a mercedes, 2 mustangs and 2 lariat f150's through them, so i think we have earned their business.

Depends on how little/much side play there is, if that's the cause of the problem.

God damn i ucking hatethis car right about now. This, the rust (not really a biggy), but the 'adjusted' the exhaust to and it fucking hit turning corners, hitting bumps etc. shoul have never gone with 3.73's anyways. Should have done the work myself.

If that was the case the backlash would be way the fck off. If he grabs the ring gear and can move it up and down a shit load then there isn't enough shims but anyone doing gears that is the main thing they set up. Once the pinion depth is set right all that is really left is to set the backlash.

Depends on how far it's off, also will depend on how much attention was paid during the installation. I've seen it done and be close until side pressure is applied to make sure everything is right then it all goes to hell, like you stated.
