  • 2002 Explorer Transmission work

Coworker of mine is looking to get some work done on his 2002 Explorer.

Apparently the issue is somewhat common with these, so he is hoping to find a local mechanic with some experience to perform this work for him.

"Ours is exhibiting the rough 2 to 3 shift and reverse and throwing the solenoid B code all of which ‘should’ be resolved by replacing the solenoid block:

Here is the write up I found:

He is in Carrollton, TX - The truck is just shifting hard, so he would be able to travel.

Please PM if you can do this work, I'll send his contact info.

    Thanks

Had a friend that fought this for about 6 months and finally gave up and bought a Ford crate tranny. An independent shop did the work and cost 3k total with a 100k mile waranty.

If he drops the Tranny himself I know a guy that will fix it for a good price
