  • T5/clutch click noise

Ok, noticed it today coming home from work. There is a click noise when I press the clutch pedal in, almost to the floor. It isnt a constant clicking, only one solid click, then clicks again when Im about halfway letting off the clutch. Doesnt matter if im driving, stopped, or engine off, it clicks when the pedal is pushed all the way in.

I got home and looked at the cable and the pedal. As I pushed it in, it was more of a metalic click that appeared to come from the bellhousing. I had someone press the pedal while I laid under the car and watched the cable and fork move. It seems to "catch" a bit or step when the click occurs. Its definately coming from the bellhousing.

It didnt seem to affect the driving or transmission. Just clicked when clutch was depressed. Ideas on what it could be? Similar incidents? Thanks in advance.

Because the sound is coming from the bellhousing.

the cable leads into the bellhousing. sometimes the cable can stretch just enough to allow the small ball at the end to fall out of it's pocket in the fork....when you step on the clutch and the ball falls back into place making a sound. I've seen this firsthand but not with the car running.

Nah, i looked at the ball too. Firs tthing to look at. It doesnt budge when the pedal is moved. Nor does it snap into place.

EDIT!!! IT DOESNT BUDGE WHEN THE PEDAL IS MOVED..... Im tired.

well, the only other thing that I can think of is maybe the throw out bearing is hanging up on something....and that something could be a lip on the throwout bearing retainer.

When I first got my mustang every time I pushed my clutch pedal all the way to the floor I would get a "click" sound. I to first thought it had something to do with the transmission/throwout bearing, but I never could find/hear anything wrong with either.

I finally tracked the "clicking" down to being a lil white plastic push button looking thing up under my clutch pedal/dash. I just lubed it up a lil, and havnt herd it "click" since then.

Get up under your dash, and look where your clutch pedal is. Push on your clutch pedal with your hand until you hear the "click" noise, and see if its coming from the lil white plastic thing that I described under your clutch/dash. (I dont know what it is/called)
