Speedo Gear

Anyone know of a store in the KEller North Fort Worth area that sells in-stock speedo gears for T5/AOD? Need one for a 2.73 rearend.

5 Star Ford has them.

AOD and T5 are different styles. You will need to know the color and tooth count to get one.

I do know the tail shaft gear is black (so I assume its a 6 tooth?) and the gear on the cable is grey. I was able to salvage my speedo gear but it is off. 35 mph on speedometer actually is about 40-45. What color gear do I need? Again, it's 2.73 until I upgrade to an 8.8 with whatever it comes with.

If they are the same as old school Ford MTs, I think I have them all. You don't get one for 2:73 per se (because of different tire sizes) , but more like 1 less or 1 more tooth per.

Let me know which you have, and I'll look. A pic might help, if they are different.

i figured you'd be changing gears soon so i thought that getting a speedo gear would be dumb right now. glad you are stuck keeping it. car deserves a good owner.

I have a green 17 you can try but I think you'll need a 16, that would be a burgundy one

Ok update on question. I now have a rearend with 3.55 gears im installing today. I know I have the black 6 tooth driveshaft/tailshaft gear in the T5 (not my install). WHat speedo cable gear would I need to correct the reading with those gears, tailshaft 6 tooth gear?

according to this I need a 16.8 or 17 tooth gear. THat sound correct? If it does, Id sticky this little calculator for other ppl!
