  • Thinking bout a 87 Chevy stepside

Was wanting another truck. I'm thinking bout trading or selling my 99 civic to get a 87 Chevy stepside and using it for a daily driver. I drive 20 miles to work then 20 back four days a week. Who here owns this year? House bads? How is the TBI fuel injection as far as economy and reliability ? I know it won't compare to the civic but figured if it ends up being that bad I can just get another civic for work. All opinions and insight welcome.

Expect around 17 highway out of it. It's pretty much as reliable as a motor can be, just don't expect MPG's in the 20's.

        Motor should last fo evea!
Underpowered TBI never will make any real HOT ROD POWER or ECONOMY.
Cool trucks just over priced now days.
        I prefer a vortec headed,lt4 hot cammed 350,carbed setup,with 3.42s outback and turbo350. I got 16mpg with that setup.
700 trans might of been nice but I'm not a big fan of the 700 with any power in front of them.
Bone stock motor 700s are great.
Good luck with your find, just don't buy an overpriced piece of shit.
99-07 are priced pretty good and are a WAY better truck.

If you had the time and space, you'd be better off finding any year of that body style with a blown up motor and putting a 4.8/5.3 in it.

May dad has one and likes it alot but may be selling it to get another Jeep. Lowered, cowl hood, billet wheeels, with a 5spd. I will see if he will send me a pic. I always like that body style and like said above the engines will run forever.
