  • Mpg on fox auto

Thinking of buying me another fox with ac.. What kind of mpg can you suspect to a 302 with an aod. Have an 1999 Honda accord now. My kid is big enough where he can get in the back seat. Maybe a mild 3o2 with a bcam gt40 heads tubular gt40 intake 24 pound injectors long tubes 65 throttle body 73 mass air.

About 13 on the highway and 9 in the city. That is what I was getting with my 93 GT hatch manual with a b cam, 24 pound injectors, BBK SSI Intake, GT40X heads, exhaust and a cold air intake.

Depends on driving style and gears. I am guessing 12-19.

              Wow.

My car stock w/ 3.73s and longtubes will get 16 in the city, hard driving. 21-22 on the highway at 65mph @ 2000rpm.

              320rwhp. 7.67 @ 90mph 1.7 60'

That B-cam and auto combo can't be good for mileage.

                  I get 18 mpg City & 25 Hwy in my 95 5spd GT

Josh if you want decent gas mileage & speed. I would look in to a 2001-02 Z28 Auto with 2.73 gears. They can be had for the same price as a Fox Auto car & still run low 8s with just Converter & Bolt Ons & knock down 22 City & 30 Hwy

A 5.0 / AOD fox in a good state of tune and stock should net 18 -20 mpg around town and 24-28 on the highway. I did calculate 29 mpg once on a long highway drive at 65 mpg with the cruise set, but never again. My around town driving is mixed stop-n-go and 635 / DNT highway speeds. My car runs 3.27 gears.

Start modding and not driving with some economy in mind and the average mpg will drop fast.

never seen the mileage from anyone that some are claiming here... sounds like padding the numbers a bit

My 90 Hatchback got 27 Hwy & 20 in town. 5.0s actually get good gas mileage if you keep your foot out of it.

My 95 has 2.73s & the following mods

                          U/D Pulleys
                          1.7 Rockers
                          Short FMS Headers
                          Offroad H-Pipe
                          Alum DS
                          75 TB
Fenderwell Cold air kit combined with March Ram Air kit
                          75mm Bullet Mass Air Meter
                          1/2inch Intake Spacer
                          AFPR
                          Elec Fan

Its fairly quick for only having Bolt Ons & get a true 25 mpg Hwy & 18 Hwy

My 90 5.0 Hatchback did better & had the same mods as my 95GT & it had Welds Big n Littles & would knock down 27 mpg all day driving from Garland to Scurry. Foxbodys on Big & Littles get AWSOME GAS Mileage. That car also had 2.73s & it ran 8.80 @ 80 mph. Also both cars had Cold AC & Heat

my old vert consistently got 20 mpg maybe a little better if all hwy - added a 5 spd, headers, and 3.73's and hwy went to 28

That seems odd, 8mpg from 5speed swap, steeper gears and some headers?

Why am I thinking your speedometer was reading on the fast side?
