  • Changed the front brakes on the 1997 F150

I'm glad I didn't wait any longer to get the front brakes done on the boy's truck.

I ordered a set of Brembo replacement rotors, and got new bearings, seals, and Wagner Thermo-Quiet ceramic pads.

This is what the inside passenger side pad looked like

The rears are due up next weekend.

shit that looks good compared to how bad my wife took our Expeditions pads to. I had to replace a rotor due to the metal part of the pad and rotor grinding on each other.

The rotors I had were probably serviceable, but I decided to go ahead and replace them so I wouldn't have to do half the job, take the rotors to get turned, and then dick with the old bearings.

I'm not sure what to do with the old ones.

I toss them in the recycling bin.

& that pad isn't that bad, i've seen some shear the pad off completely and just lay the backing plate into the rotor.. eek.

you described it better than me lol

the grooves in the rotor were nice.

My ex drove on finished pads for so long the backing plate fell out of the calliper and the piston popped out, while she was driving.

That is nothing compared to the shit my customers have brought in . I've seen them go all the way to the cooling fins then the rotor explode leaving nothing but the rotor hat . Then ask " how much fo jus da pads ? "

Nah, that is about when you are supposed to replace them. My sisters Mark VIII got all the way down, then finally the pad jumped off from the caliper. Still not sure how that happened, but the rotor had some nice grooves.

The rotors on the 04+ f150's are rediculious because they are an assembled with the wheel bearings. Dumb things are like $120 a piece and require new castle nuts.

My second fbody was a built motor ss with 50k on it: the second day I owned it the right rear brake pad ate complete through and caused the piston to pop the seal on the caliper and I lost all brake pressure and had to stop the car using the emergency brake. Previous owner did a huge smoky burnout eveidently the day before he sold it to me
