A daily driven non intercooled car bothers me.

For $1200 it sure seems hard to beat!
$1200 is used blower range. I would do that before a frankenstein kit.

Fuck that. I'm sure there's a better way to do that - but as it stands, that kit will require some huge, nasty uglified hood. Not to mention that bracket system they've made to support the bearing looks like it was done with a torch, by stevie wonder himself...

There is a guy selling a coupe on CL with this kit. It looks cool until you see the hole cut in the hood for the snout and pulley. By the time you get all of the supporting hardware for this kit you could have gotten a basic vortech kit or the On3 turbo kit.

Which is why my idea had the blower turned on its side. This also left room for an intercooler. The intercooler would not be as big as the one found in the mod motors, but it would have been better than nothing.

It has to be turned on it's side for my idea. I never got anywhere close to making anything.

That is very true, this was just a toss up idea I had. My original plan was to eventually go with a turbo, if nitrous doesn't satisify me.

                      Sort of.

Mine required removal of the distributor. I was debating on going with a computer and harness from a 5.0 exploder or mega squirt.

The blower on its side, positioned more forward, and tucked down as far as it could go. The intercooler would be much longer and fatter than the elbow shown above, yet considerably shorter in height.

It would still require a cowl hood, but a 2.5" would have provided plenty of room. No hole would be required for the blower pulley.

Again, this was all in theory, on paper, and crude measurements using my foxbody with stock hood, an '87 with a 2.5" cowl, explorer (gt40) intake, and measurements from an Eaton that was removed from a 2007 GT500.

That idea got scrapped when I saw my first spy shots of the ZR1 blower setup and then Edelbrock's blower setup.

When I realized so much more could be done by turning the blower upside down and removing the distributor it was all a waste.

It's nice to see someone finally made an intake to do this. Back around '00 I don't believe it was possible, and I like some others in here considered mocking up an intake to make some cheap power.

that guy actually makes the same design but the blower sits 45 degrees more towards the driver side to clear the stock hood. this setup also utilizes the stock serp belt and doesnt come with a tensioner. not too sure how much belt slip you would get but i thought about selling my FMS SVO powerdyne kit and trying this out instead on the lighting. there is also a guy out there on the corral and nloc that has made his own intake and runs an 871 blower on a gt40 lower. anyways for 1200 bucks its definitely an affordable way to step into the boost world

and from the looks of the design could a heat exchanger or what ever be installed under the blower?
