As an update, I ended up going to a place called Hamm's off of 377 and Watauga road. There was a bunch of cars before mine and they still had it done very efficiently. Very satisfied.

The 275's looks awesome, be sure to check for pics of them later today in the picture forum.

          decreased traction

edit: i think it would be ok on 15" wheel with tall sidewall like 275/50

Nittos tend to run narrow, so its not an issue. I've got 275's on my 17 X 8 wheels with no problems in handling or acceleration.

i'm guessing you are running 275/40-17? with a 17x8 wheel, you'd do better with 245/45-17. with your 275s, you have a bulging, less stable sidewall and your usable contact patch isn't any bigger with 275 because it is limited by the wheel. plus a little extra unsprung and rotating mass from the unnecessary rubber. doesn't mean you can't drive on them, just means they are not as good. some folks think the bigger the tire you can fit on the better, but not the case.

Go buy me a set of 245's (these are drag radials btw) and we can find out.

probably a different story with drag radials. i don't know anything about them. i thought you were talking about street tires.

Yep, guess I could've mentioned that earlier. Before I mounted them I stood them next to an unmounted set of M/T 275 40 17 Dr's, and the Nittos were noticeably narrower.

Just take the wheels off the car and get the tires mounted next time.
