  • AOD stall

i want to start looking into a stall for my AOD. i want to be able to stall it up to 3K, so i thinking i should get a 3200 stall. what should i look into? has anyone had experience with them? would like to get pointed in the right direction really.

What's your setup? Street/strip or race only?

right now street/strip. eventually, it will be a track only car, but that is just my long term goal. i drive it on the street on weekend only.

I'd go 3200 if you do a lot of driving in it and/or plan to do a power adder. If it's just a weekend driver I'd go 36-3800 and all motor you might consider 4k.

i don't drive it much but on the weekends. honestly, i probably don't even put 50 miles on it when i do drive it. i really don't know much about stalls, but i feel i need one to help with my times. really, the only thing left to is a stall, bottle and tires, it has all other bolt ons. long term plans include a turbo and 306.

electric fans, underdrive pullies, 70mm throttle body, explorer upper and lower, BBK shorties, off road H, flows, 4.10's and a shift kit. i think it has 24 # injectors also. i do plan on doing a bottle around the same time as the stall.

You'll see a big time improvement if you're on good tires with a stall. I'd go 3200 if you're planning on bottle.

Once you go turbo if you have a pretty powerful setup you'll need to get a different converter or have that one tweaked anyway.

if my trans last that long, i will have it built or go with a C6 or something.

What bolt ons do you have.. What are your gears. I had a stock hatch that a gt40 intake with 4.10 and a 3k stall. It went from a 9.30 to a 8.80 with the stall.

Get whomever is selling the converter to tell you what you need to go with your combination. Give them everything you know, and don't exaggerate.

                      You'll be happier that way.

this is what i have. the only thing i put on it was the Explorer intake, everything else was on it when i bought it. after the intake, and learning the car, i went from a previous best of 9.5's down a vehicle best so far of 9.18, and picked up 3 mph on those runs.

                            I have a this cheap B&M in my car . http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BMM-40438/
I think I would like it better if it was a lock up because I think I am loosing some Fuel mileage on the highway . You can see the slip but it works pretty good for my heavy vert . I think if your plan is to upgrade later just go with a cheap 3k now and spend the money on a good one after the turbo . BTW my car has a mild 351 and 3.73 gears and ran a 1.8 60ft 8.2 1/8 and a 12.9 1/4 last weekend . It aint fast but it works good for a 300 dollar converter .
