  • Need Help,8.8 replaceing 7.5 on 89 4banger to V8 coupe

I was told that the 8.8 should bolt right in,but when i started taking the 7.5 out i noticed it had the brake line fitting on the P/S rearend and the 8.8 doesnt have one at all, So what am I needing to do?Also the 8.8 has a extra set of brakets, what are they for and if not do i just cut them off or what? One more thing the 8.8 has a peice bolted around the top of the pinion and 2 block looking peices at the bottom, whats that for? Im going to try and post pics to show what im asking about.1st pic is the 7.5 and you know what the 2nd is

ZO6: Thanks, Im going to get aftermarket control arms little later on for wheel hop. Woult it be better to use the shocks or control arms? Will i need to have them off or will they be okleft on there?I was thinking of something like a t fitting for the brake lines. If anyone has info please let me know.

I thought of that but the fitting is part of the 7.5 housing I believe . It look like it was welded on .

The fitting has a vent bolt thru it and can be swapped over .

It had a lot of build up around it and I tried to clean it off the best I could. But the old lady was trying to start a argument and I just got a glance at it before I bailed. So it could have still had a junk around it and that's why I thought it was welded on. I check it out after work and if it goes on the 8.8 you'll be my new hero for the week.

Now all I need to find out is if I need to cut the brackets off or they are ok left on.

Why would you need to cut them? Bolt it in.

Do you mean the quad shock brackets or something else ? If the bracket closest to the brake drum on each side is the one you mean they will not hit .

Yes that's the ones for the quad shocks. I didn't know if they hit or not since I'm not hooking shocks up to them. But cool now that I know my buddy and I are going to throw it in tomorrow after work.Any tips on getting the springs in easy? Thanks to everyone for their help!!!!

springs are easy. Really easy with a lift.

You should be able to put them in with the car in the air and the weight off the rear end.
