  • Bent axles? 3g install?

getting ready to install my 3g alternator, my factory harness is just about cooked through, so its time.

tips or pointers? where should i buy the cable?

Was at a car meet on tuesday and was told my rear tire was wobbling. Went home put it on stands and let it roll in 2nd, sure enough it has about 1/4 inch lateral runout on the passengers side and 1/8 or so on the drivers side. There should be ZERO runout correct?

I tried with a differant set of wheels to make sure the ones i had were not bent and the same result, ive also felt something strange while cruising down the road as of late.

anything else cause that? i couldnt think of anything else, so i figured i would ask.

ill be doing all of this on saturday.

    thanks fellas!

Easy to check. While the car is on jack stands, take off rear wheels and try the same test and put on a few lug nuts to hold brakes in place. If you are careful, take off drum/ disc (dont push brake pedal). Will give best readings of any axle run out.

.25 and .125 is too much run out for an axle flange....
    Some cars and a bike...

Some say... they have been raced, some a lot

Probably bent an axle when you did that Dukes of Hazzard thing in the ditch....

This is a different rear end.

        Good guess though!

I thought I had a bent axle before and it turned out I had just bent the studs. The test SC457A directly measuring the runout of the axle flange would take the studs out of the equation; if the axle seems good but you have a wobble with the wheels bolted up and they are not bent themselves, then it's the studs.
