I have a Battery Tender brand on my 68 Camaro for about a year now and a Bell brand tender from Wallmart on my ATV. I had the Bell one on my old ATV for 5 years and now it's on my new one. No Problems with either one.

I use the Battery Tender Plus on both my Braille battery in my track car, and also on a yellow top Optima on the car trailer. Have not had an issue....
The tender does get a little toasty when it is charging, but other than that, no problems.
I have read about ones made by C-Tek are pretty good too. Lots of different ones. Pricey little bastards too from what I saw.

Most tenders the battery has to be fully charged or they will drain the battery for whatever reason...
I use the cheap harbor freight $6 ones. Between my father and I we have about 8 of them and they all work like a charm. Use them on the lawnmowers to the cars."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government"

I have had up to 15 in use at one time(the ones with a sealed charger unit inline) never had one fail and batteries were always hot. I rarely had to replace a battery after installing them. Ill keep using mine.
The ones I had would charge a battery before it trickle charged and then would shut off once it was done. Even used a 6v one on the model A with no problem.

Tender
It is true that the battery has to be fully charged in order to use the maintainer. I have the Harbor freight ones as well on my Cobra and my Harley and have not had a problem. I'm in the shop all the time and will usually put them to maintain about twice a week. When not in use I simply move the tender positive off the post. Seems to work well for me. Good luck.

I got 6 years out of my last Optima SC34U red top by using a Battery Tender Plus. 98 Cobra with big alarm. Car sits most of the time. If the car is parked, it is connected to the Battery Tender Plus. The battery must be good to begin with. I don't think anything is going to bring back a 3.4V battery especially when 10.5V is considered DEAD.
