need help new motor wont start

    im in the process of re doing the timing , maybe it had 4.6 timing chains, i check at work and there is a difference in 5.4 chains so i bought some going to re do it , and check compression before installing covers , it has stock cams so i hope there was no interference

        since you think you may have put the wrong chains or whatever on it i would pop all the followers off on each cylinder and do a leakdown to make sure nothing is bent. my 4v cranked over one cold morning got stuck I turned it over again and it lost all compression. then i got to buy lots of nice new parts

          Since the 5.4 block is wider and taller, I'm pretty sure the 4.6 timing chains would not have fit. You have a 2000 GT, so you've got the press on cam gears, is it possible they are not on all the way or spinning on the end of the cam?

            it had a 01 motor in it and had bolt on gears, i didnt reuse the cams off my 4.6 anyways , the cams in the motor are in fact bolt on gears, ill do a leak down as well , thanks

              I would start with resetting the timing marks. The 5.4 are not interference engines. It would take a huge cam to bend the valves. Lmk what you come up with. I have built a ton of mod motors in the past. I know them inside and out.

                        well re did chains , to the exact specs, poor a tiny bit of oil in the cylinders lube up all the cams and lifters, its actual doing something now , almost wanted to fire off, i pull a plug and its wet ,as before they never got wet as if the intake valve was close when the imjector was spraying , so i disable my fuel pump and crank it with the pedal to the floor and it sounds like i got compression now , i need a better battery mine does not crank for very long at all , going to let it charge and see what happens

                          well im fucked , got car running , sopunded perfect had a oil pan gasket leak and milky shit was coming out , drain oil and tons of water/oil came out , not sure what to do next , weird thing is the coolant wasnt even pressurized , so theres a major problem , !!!!!!

                              yep sounded good to lol, not sure what to check first ,going to pull motor for sure , but what are my possibllities, warped heads ? crack block somewhere ? back gaskets?
