  • Old style Torker intakes any good for SBF?

I had one on a 302 30 years ago. I currently have a stock 99 Explorer short block in the car, and a Performer intake on it. I've heard the old style, twisted carb mount Torker isn't that good, but I found one cheap. Are they any good? Recommend buying it? I eventually want to go with the E303 cam.

I loved mine , it was on a 7000 rpm 427 in a 69 camero at 3200 lbs with a 3000 rpm stall converter . Good for the big end no bottom end though.

You must be talking about a "Torker 289". I've had a couple of them. They do great on small headed motors. The intake runners are very small.

We used one on a lemons car, it worked well for us.

People still use them because they work, but tgier are better designs.

Yep, that's the one! I can get this one cheap, $30.00 but I wasn't sure if it would hurt my performance now over the Performer.

I ran the small weiand open(looks like 289torker but straight) to replace my rpm intake.I lost about 2 tenths between the 60ft and the 330ft.Big hole in power band.Went back to the rpm.I think this is the best street/strip intake

There's much better technology out there Duane. For around 100$ you can get professional products knock offs of just about anything edelbrock makes... even the performer, RPM etc. I don't know that experimenting is worth the waste of intake gaskets.
