I'm using the E3 Diamondfires not the split fires. There have been some writeups on these plugs and one guy even tested a plug to 300 ft-lbs in a vice and got not get it to separate.

The factory plugs are 100k and mine are bad at 65k which seems common among the F150's.

Well i did the plug change. NONE of the plugs broke. Everything went smoothly... the back cyl on the passenger side is a pain in the ass.

Well now the truck runs like shit. I went back through and checked all connections, checked to make sure i did not knock a vacuum hose or any other connector loose.

It shakes at idle ( noticeable in the cab) and has a slight hesitation. I can also hear a "POW" every couple of beats out of the tail pipe if i put my ear about a ft from it ( real faint sounding).

Any ideas of what might have happened so I can look further into it in the morning?

Cel on? If no vac lines or connections gotta be a bad plug, wtf else could it be. BTW i only put stock motorcraft back in there, IMO that splitfire etc crap ain't all its cracked up to be.

Is splitfire and E3 the same company?

No Cel light yet. I have only driven about 3 miles.

I am going off of reviews on the F150 boards and everybody, hands down, was saying E3 was the best ONE PIECE plug on the market. I am going to recheck everything in the morning. Cyl #4 (back passenger) side gave me a ton of trouble . I had extensions and knuckles on there that kept binding. Maybe i did not get it all the way tight and just thought it was because of binding?????

Someone recommended removing the computer to get better access to that plug. I will redo that one and see if it fixes it.

Yep those back ones are a bitch. Don't know about the plug being the same, we just put stock replacements in. Any way you could find someone with a scanner and run live data. Shit you could possible be fixin to mess with the wrong cylinder.

I removed computer and was able to get another turn or two out of the #4 spark plug. Started it up and it runs like a champ so far. I am letting the computer reset now and will go for a test drive in a minute.

How did your truck respond to being reset? Mine idled worse than before after i got my plugs and COP boots changed... but it's since calmed down a little bit. I guess i was expecting it to be fixed magically.

The first 5 seconds was a little rough but then it was fine. I let the truck idle until operating temperature was reached. Then I cycled on the a/c for a few minutes. Then I drove it. Runs great now.

My initial problem was the back passenger plug not being tight enough. Getting the computer out of the way allowed me to tighten it correctly.

I am not sure of the exact procedure on these vehicles but.... But I had the battery unplugged for about an hour. When i was finished i just turned the truck on and let it idle until it reach operating temperature. Then I turned the A/C on for a few minutes... and then I drove it.

On our Mustangs I have always just bolted the battery cables on, started the car, and drove off. My dad always threw a fit and said you are supposed to let it idle until it gets hot, turn the a/c on, then drive it to reset the computer right. I never really listened... but i figured on this truck.. with the luck I was having.. I would give it a shot haha.
