  • 2001 ranger tranny

    Damn transmission is going out in my 2001 ranger, anyone have one laying around or know of where I can get it fixed for cheap?

      will a 4x4 tranny work on a non 4x4 vehicle??

        The transfer case adapter would be removed and your tailhousing bolted on in its place, then it should work as long as the tail shaft isn't different. Most any reputable trans shop should be able to tell you if they have any experience building those.

            if it doesn't require shaft replacement, the extension housing is a simple unbolt, bolt on affair. Remove your old tail housing, unbolt the transfer case extension housing, bolt your tailhousing to the rear of the 4wd transmission and install (all assuming the output shafts are the same.

              cool, guess ill have to see when i do it, crossing fingers it does not require a shaft replacement
