  • Fox rear brake line to rear end issue

I'm scratching my head on this one. On our mustang coupe and our fairmont, the rubber line that connects to the body's hard brake line and has a T at the rear end has a flare fitting to the body.

We have ordered two different times from two different places beaded stainless lines, and they both have a banjo fitting on this end. We've scrounged the junk yards looking to find a mustang that has this to no avail.

I can have a line made, but I'm still out overnight charges and I'm getting crunched for time. Does anyone know of a fitting that will take us from the flare fitting on the body's line to the banjo fitting on the beaded line?

The fairmont was a 6cyl, the coupe *could* have been, but I dont think it was, everything was v8 and stock on it.

The line shows the same 87-98, but we looked at 3 cars at the yard, they were either completely different or the same rbber to flare that ours has. None had a banjo.

The softline on your coupe reminds me of 4cyl car or one for a 7.5 rear end.

Im seeing conflicting parts interchange, some sights show a difference in v8 to 4cyl, some show all fox and early sn95 to have the same line.

It does appear that there was a change for the V8 cars somewhere in the early 90's, and I need that fitting to make this work.

You'll need to change the hardline from the passenger side firewall area all the way back to the rear end, that's what I use to do on 4cyl to 8cyl conversions.

There is a difference in V8 to 4cyl brake lines, I've done close to 10 4cyl conversions ranging from '87-'93 and have always swapped out the brake line going from the engine compartment all the way to the rearend. Throughout all of those conversions I never had an issue bolting the banjo bolt to the body.

that's goign to be tough, the fairmont is 4.5" longer than a fox, and it is run in a completely differnt way.

What if you cut the correct line that bolts to the body, flared it, and use a compression fitting to connect it together? Something like this but more so towards the rear of the car?

Hell you dont need rear brakes. You'll prob have to go custom.
