  • Nissan Shop / Mechanic recs

    Dear DFWmustangs,

I need a recommendation for a decent Nissan shop. My aunt has an Altima 2.5 and she drives a ton for at home nursing, so the warranty is dead.

Long story short. It was overheating. It had a water leak in cylinder #1. The stealership wanted to sell her a new car. I had to take the head to a machine shop myself to be milled and they put it back together. Now it is running like crap, bucking, hesitating and won't idle. It does not overheat though. They claim it's a new water leak (bullcrap since it hasn't need a drop in 4 weeks). To me it sounds like unmetered air or a vacuum leak from having the engine taken apart.

These guys didn't even realize that head bolts that are torque to yield will stretch. They wasted a day because the new bolts were shorter... no shit.

Anyway, I need to find my aunt a decent Nissan mechanic or shop in the DFW area (Dallas is better). I don't have the time to work on cars anymore or the desire, but I'm sick of the stealership trying to sell her a new car because they suck.

    Thanks.

P.S. I also need someone to try and talk me out of buying an '11-'13 5.0..... I drove one for the first time last week and it's all I want lately.

        what year is the altima?
if it doesnt idle properly it most likely need its idle relearned.

another thing where is your aunts car located?

I reset the throttle body using a procedure found online. The car is running much better. And to imagine the stealership wanted to sell her a new engine.... I have no respect for that dealership at all after everything she has been through with this car.

Nissan seems like a pretty good car, but that dealership is horrible.
