That's what the spout is for.
Spout is short for Spark Out. Basically your engine is constantly moving the timing around to increase performance and driveability. At idle, the timing is all sorts of everywhere to keep the car runnin smooth. You HAVE to pull the spout or you're just guessing.
So pull the pill, set base @ 14* and put the pill back in. Easy breezy.Originally posted by PGreenCobraI can't get over the fact that you get to go live the rest of your life, knowing that someone made a Halloween costume out of you. Spout out = locked timing, no advance from the computer. I ran timing like this in one of my turbo cars. Drivability was subpar as it was tuned at wot, ran great when I got on it though.
I eventually got an xpi timing lock.
Super cheap and easy peasy! You run a normal advance until a set rpm then the timing locks (I had it setup on a hobbs switch). It really improved drivability.Ded

Well i heard back that my timing needs to be at 10* base. I had it set at 20* since it idled fine but this was with the spout in so I'll re set it. Also before the dizzy came apart, i was having a low idle/ vacuum problem since the ac install. That is no longer an issue with the timing where its at. My question is, would I have to change timing after adding ac to accommodate the additional load if the ac? That issue has gone away but i don't know if its because my dizzy was coming apart or because my timing had changef
