      11.8v sounds like a dead cell as well.


      A hacksaw will get through that material pretty well.

      Last edit: I get my alternators rebuilt for a fraction of the cost of a new one.

        Well fortunately my neighbor has everything so he let me borrow his grinder and I got it off. Got it installed and everything is running smooth. Voltage is back to normal as well

          Just take the old casing and reuse it.

          Remove the pulley, undue to screws holding the casing together. Swap the front peices.

          Easy fix.

            When that alternator goes out, and they see you grinded the case off they may bitch and not want to warranty the part for "mis-use". FYI.

            Explain the situation the store manager when the time comes. Just be ready.
