  • Fox guys: Remember these?

Hi folks, just getting my 89 LX back on the road. Replaced the struts and shocks this weekend. Anyone remember these?

Those of you who know, know. Those who don't? I bought them back when Super Shops was still around.

I thought this was gong to be about rear window louvers. I really have been debating getting a set for my 92.

Well, the ride used to be a lot stiffer, which I kind of liked. I went with KYB's all the way around, and the ride is pretty nice. Less squeaks and rattles with the new shocks/struts.

I have a friend that ran the aluminum ones on his 85 GT. They looked really cool, but rattled around quite a bit while driving. They used to have some that were ABS plastic, but I never cared much for the way they looked compared to the aluminum ones.

              Or headlight covers.

89LXSport, You're going to be rethinking that decision to go with KYB shocks / struts after you've put some miles on it. Those are the worst $$$ I've ever spent on my Mustang for handling / ride quality.

My 86 GT came with GTS front blackouts still in the box

I'm not making a "for" recommendation. I'm making an "against" recommendation. Any brand will be better than the KYB junk. I've heard nothing but good about Bilstein & Koni. My next set of shocks / struts will likely be Bilstein. Pricey though.

Back in the day they were the shit! When my '84 was new I considered getting them but never did. They did look good with blacked out windows on the foxes & camaro's. Looked good with aluminum louvers too. Lots of both in my HS parking lot.

i looked at bilstein based off the research ive done online, but for the price, it better drive like a cadilac and you know thats not gonna happen. I d like to know which shocks and stuts to use that are fairly priced

I liked the ride of the Tokico HPs and H&R SS springs I had on my 02, but the only thing I have to reference it against is the stock setup.

Wouldn't be a caddy ride. It's most important to match the shocks / struts to the springs for a good ride that handles well. I've heard good stuff about the Tokicos as HOOCBB mentioned.
