Rad, I appreciate it! I also hate to look a gift horse in the mouth when it comes to a used smog pump. I just don't want another one to lock-up on me! So even if I got another used one, I'd still tear it apart and go through it. Most of the problems seem to develop when the car/pump/etc sits for a long time. For example, this car sat for awhile, after I drove it for about 1,000 miles, the pump locked-up, tossed the belt, etc and somewhat left me stranded. I put another one on from a motor I had pulled out of a wrecked GT 10 years ago. The motor had sat in my garage with the smog pump on it never touched for that long. It still spun, so I bolted it on. 500 or so miles later there I am damn-near stranded again when it locked-up and tossed the belt! So I actually have a couple locked-up pumps here at the house. I'd like to rebuild them all and use them on my other foxes and not ever worry about the shit again!

MattB, I think that there is something to your theory. I have an engine from a parts car that was running good when removed from the car. The engine sat for a few years intact but now that it is disassembled for a rebuild the smog pump is locked up tight. I've already decided to do the same thing as you and rebuild that pump before putting it in the mustang.
A+, If you do ditch your smog stuff I would like to have the smog pump if MattB doesn't take you up on it.

lmao! That's shitty man. I went ahead and called my store because my curiosity got the better of me. The number isn't obsolete, it just isn't stocked any where. I've got an email out to the manufacturer to see if they have any in their own warehouse that they can ship to me. Should know tomorrow.

likely a 6203 2rs most common bearing used in stuff, the same as most idler pullys, front alternator bearings, lawn mower spindle bearings.

Many people ditch the charcoal canister but I recommend that you keep it. This will keep your car / garage from smelling of gas fumes.

Thanks for looking around Eric, when I get some time I'll try to find something that works. Like I said, not a huge hurry, but I would like to have it done before I get the car inspected in a few months.

Understand you want to rebuild instead of buying reman, but why not buy a Smog Pump Eliminator bracket/bearing to run all-year except for when you need to get an inspection done. This will prevent you from wearing out the smog pump over and over, while allowing you to retain your stock belt/pulley setup, then just remount and reconnect your smog pump when needed.
