  • Fox smog pump bearing size?

I'm rebuilding a stock fox smog pump and I want to replace the bearing in the rear. Anyone know the size, or even better, where to order an exact replacement? I don't have the bearing pressed-out yet, but I'd like to order a replacement as soon as I can so I can start putting this pump back together. The google searches I've done haven't really come-up with anything besides people talking about smog pump eliminators or entire pump replacements. I want to rebuild this myself and not just get a replacement from autozone. Thanks for any help!

I actually am believe it or not! It's on a 100% stock '91 GT, so I figured I'd leave it that way. But even if I gutted the pump, I still need that bearing, mine is toast.

Nah, not at all, I just have no interest in modifying this car and want to get it running with a working smog pump back on it(currently bypassed with a shorter belt) so it will pass a legit inspection, and to satisfy my curiosity I wanted to pull the pump apart anyway and see how it worked. I found my problem and wanted to fix it. I've driven foxbodys since I was 16 years old, and this is the third smog pump that has locked-up on me while driving! I want to just go through it and fix it right. I've got the bearing out of it now, but I'd still like to have a part number or size to compare mine to. I'm pretty sure these pumps haven't changed much from the 70's to 90's, so it shouldn't be something too obscure, I guess I'm just the only guy that didn't go buy a rebuilt replacement or bypass the smog pump for good.

              Matt,
Any sort of markings on it? numbers, symbols? Going out on a limb and assuming its a timken, they list these as distributers. Probably best to give them a call and see if they have a huge inventory and then take it over and have them help you match it up.

I kinda pounded around on it and it was hard to read, but I got a magnifying glass and after a few attempts I believe the correct part number is FC65885 outside diameter = 1.875" 1 7/8" inside diameter 1.5" and height of 1/2". Looks like I'll just google around and order a few. I'm not in any hurry, just one of my projects I wanted to finish before inspection time in a few months. If I can't find anything I'll go visit those places. Thanks Trevor!

I appreciate the offer A+, I just don't want to put another used one on here, I've had too many go bad over the years! I'd rather just repair it correctly and be done with it!

That looks like a pretty common BCA number. Any parts store should be able to cross it and get you one same day.

Well, looks like that exact part# is an obsolete part after calling a few places! Wtf, guess I've gotta do it the hard way and just go visit some places. Those measurements seem like pretty standard sizes, so I'm sure somehow I'll find what I need.

Looks like it was a Timken part #, then SKF made it, and now it shows as obsolete, from what one of the guys told me. If you can order a few Eric, let me know, I'll come pick them up from you.

It should cross to a newer number. I'll try and remember to look into it tomorrow.

Matt, I have an old smog pump from my fox at my dads in Double Oak. You can have it if you want.
