Both have their benefits. Id rather have efi. You run megasquirt or anything like that?

Or are you dealing with the stock computer shit.

Before going carbed, you might consider just moving to a better EFI system than stock Ford stuff, which is better suited to Racing, which is more accessible with more tuning options.

Something along the line of the Edelbrock Pro-Flo2 system. http://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/35420/10002/-1 There are others, just an example.

If you go carbed, and don't have experience with them, expect to see your car slow down at first until you get it straight. Once you get everything you need, like a wide-band O2 sensor to Tune your A/F ratio, a good carb, and all the tuneable options and parts, fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel pressure reg, etc... you're going to be heavily invested and always smelling like fuel on racedays.

Going carbed is going backwards. Why not sit down, and take the time to learn how to tune it yourself. Buy a Quarterhorse and a copy of Binary editor. There are several free GUFB strategies out there that are complete and free of charge from eecanalyzer.

Did it with my 89 coupe (306, z cam, 150 shot nx) and saw great improvement.

I did the Holley single intake with the Barry Grant road demon carb.

So you guys think a single plain Vic jr intake with may a 650 speed demon would be a good set up.. And how many of you guys run a belt that does just the alternator.. Going with an electric water pump and have no power steering or ac..

Bout to pull the motor and sell the car rolling or will part it out.. What do you guys think I could get for the car.. Needs cowl hood and bumper cover. But pulling motor and tranny will leave suspension.. 92 4 cylinder coupe from Tennessee. Black dash with black paint interior. 5 lug conversion. New 4.10 gears. Eibach lower springs in the front qa1 10 way adjustable struts in the front and rear set for 90/10 and 50/50. 4 cylinder springs in rear. 255 In take fuel pump. Car will come with black bullets that need paint.

Yea that will be a good intake carb setup. The short belt thing didnt do shit for me. I ran the exact same ET's with a long belt (ac,ps,etc) as I did with the short belt. So it's worth nothing in my experiences.

Theres more to it than that.

                                Ive had both.

On a proper carb setup (I used Holleys back in the day), you have to properly match the power valve to your motor. Put in the correct jets, adjust your idle mixtures, adjust the timing for your secondaries via cam or vaccum diaphram springs. If you had a metering plat for the secondaries, you'd swap them out for a metering block, etc. How the carb is mounted to the intake also played a factor. If you wanted to change anything you were leaning over the engine. Plus you go back to a old style type of ignition that you had to sync to the car.

With a GOOD efi system you should make more power and you can adjust everything on the fly with a laptop from your drivers seat. Datalogging, different tune files etc. you'll pay a bit more for the system but its better in the long run
