  • 2.3L Dual Plug Popping through the intake??

Alrighty, Soo got the ranger running its got a new head, and all the trimmings, along with a new tps sensor and egr sensor. It threw those 2 codes so i replaced them. Its got new plugs, new plug wires. Its in time and yet its still popping through the intake. Tried different alternations of putting the plug wires in the coil packs and it still pops through the intake. What is the cause of this??

try feeding some carb cleaner into a vacuum port slowly and see if it picks up any, the popping sounds like a leak backfire, if lean then the extra fuel should smooth it out.

Does it pop under load or free rev as well.

Nope, Rev it up and hold it above idle and its smooth. The rear is up on jack stands cause it out inspection and shit. I ran it through the gears and sounds fine. But ill try and drive it down the road while its under a load to see what happens.

Lean will burn your eyes as well, unless its puffing black smoke, then I doubt its rich.

                  What's your fuel pressure?

How long have the injectors gone without running?

Put a dollar bill over the tail pipe while it's running and see if it sucks back in by any amount?

It sat since 09 till we got it. Installed the new head and everything, ran some furl system cleaner through it. But idk if that did anything. And fuel pressure was around 40 when I check it with the gauge.

Check your timing marks. Sounds like it could be a tooth off

These are all guesses, but I'm leaning on stuck injector(s), cam timing is off, or possibly bent/stuck valves.

EDIT: you can strike bent valves off the list. I just now saw the video. My computer didn't load it before.

Well checked the timing. And it's dead on. Soo must be injector?? Or the marks are telling the truth and it's off a tooth..

Will the timing marks line up Everytime you do a full rotation?

Have you put some fresh gas in it and checked the cat. converter?
