  • 86 gt convertible running rich

I have a 86 convertible that I have been trying to get right for a friend.
The car had been sitting for 6-7 years. I put a battery in the car and it started right up but it smoked pretty bad. Reaked of fuel. The car also had a couple colapesed lifters and I replaced them with brand new ford racing lifters. I have replaced the FPR, rebuilt distributor, set timing and changed the lifters. I cannot figure out why this thing is smoking so bad with fuel and it stinks bad. If it runs for a few minutes and I cut it off its a pain in the ass to start it back up. I was told to replace the injectors and that should solve the problem, Im just curious before I do that what anyone else has experienced. The car is speed density and it has fresh fuel in it.

I had a similar situation and it ended up being the ECU.
