Did you replace the quadrant hooked to the clutch pedal? The stocker is plastic and a 2 piece design. The 2 pieces have plastic "teeth" that mesh together. On my old 88 the teeth stripped out, but the cable was fine.

No it was not replaced. Man, I feel like it's going to be a bitch to get to. I can barely see it.

Take the seat out! I'm fat and that helped me alot! But it's not that hard, just a couple of pins to pull and it'll come right out.

It's easy. Just crawl under there and do it. Taking the seat out helps, but on bob94s car I've did one with the seat in and feet out the sunroof.

HAHA. Sorry dude. That made me laugh.

But he is right. Jerk that seat out. Gives you more room.

I did mine when I was building the car, right after I stripped it.

its not that bad. just get those two pins out and slide it off. It looks intimidating but its not bad at all. hold the flashlight with your mouth and use one hand lol. thats what i did and Im not a small guy.

And you should probably get a quadrant with 2 hooks atleast.

Just went out and snapped a pic of my quadrant... it might have been replaced by someone else... it is metal... and from what I gather the stock one is plastic?:

Take it off and look. I had to replace a metal one after 5 years. It was cutting the cable.

Ok, well thats good atleast. So when I bought this clutch cable, it WAS pretty difficult to get it into the clutch fork... I had to use a pry bar to push on the fork to get the end of the cable into the grove. Not sure if that is normal, but it was a fixed length cable bought from orielly's so I assumed it was just because the pressure plate was new, and the cable was new, this not broke in yet.

Now I am curious if this hasn't caused an issue... The car drove fine, clutch felt normal, etc. for the past 4 months. This issue came about all of a sudden while driving.

If the cable stretched, it must have been by atleast an inch and a half... but the measurement does not indicate that this is the case.

Is there a way to troubleshoot the pressure plate to make sure it is engaging /disengaging all the way? Sorry for the dumb questions, still learning how some of this stuff works.

I guess the question is, how did the clutch feel? Did you notice anything slipping? Like the RPM going up and and car not responding? Any noises?

I would still start with the cable, quad, and adjuster. Get all that in and see how everything reacts.

Also, move the cable in and out with everything disconnected and see how it feels.

I pulled the top pin so I could see the channel the cable rides in... just a little scuffed from the cable, but not deep enough to be a problem. Also revealed that it is an SVO quadrant...:

No slipping at all. Clutch felt good, was a big improvement in the smoothness of the pedal with the new cable installed! About a week ago I started having the faint chirping noise from the throw out bearing that would go away if I just barely touched the clutch pedal... other than that, no issues at all.
