You will never see me on a gas savers forum. His rebuild sounds nothing like he is worried about gas either.

Not trolling, actually intrigued and amused.

why not use a dohc honda motor or a quad 4, at least then it will move out of its own way

Contact SuprFly (Mike Cove) on TeamSwift forums. He is in Canada and specializes in this motor (he built the 1.0L motor in a Bonneville Geo Metro that went 140 mph). I got a rebuilt cylinder head from him for my old '96 Geo Metro. It opened up a good bit of "power". With the new head, I got the car up to a GPS indicated 97 mph before backing off due to traffic, but it was still pulling. That might not sound like much, but remember, a Geo Metro is just a tin can and previously had a top speed of 74 mph!

The head i installed is a 3tech, decked for 11-11.5:1 compression, stainless swirl valves, the 218/350 cam and the +10* cam wheel.

@GroveRat the buggy weighed 1012 lbs with the previous motor in it, i bet it's no more than 1100 now.

@aceman the plan is build something not n/a over time but for now the buggy came with a 1.0 so until it gets trashed i'm not spending any time re-engineering this thing. mated with the 4 speed manual it's not as much of a pig as you'd think.

This car? Looked like they were having fun, and they were trying for the all-Geo 1L record, but they were going nowhere near 140mph.

This (other) Geo was also in the 1000cc class, but used a snowmobile engine and was MUCH faster.

No, the one that ran 140 mph was a turbocharged 1.0L, but he ran a carb so I thought that was it at first. If I remember right, the turbo was a Super 60 T3 and the guy shifted when the boost gauge hit 19 psi, which was about 9k rpms. The factory rev limiter on these motors doesn't hit till 7k even though factory power starts to drop off after about 5k.
