  • Changing flywheels.....

If you had a motor built and balance with one flywheel... is it safe to change flywheels?

My current motor still has the stock 28oz external balance flywheel. I am going to put on a Ram 28oz external balance sfi steel flywheel. Will this cause any issues?

If I weigh them and the overall weights are different will it matter?

have the flywheel balanced to the balance of the original.

Simple enough just hadn't thought of it. I thought they would need to balance the whole rotating assembly together.

I just got off the phone with Dennis Wells of Wells' Racing. He said if they are both 28oz... then check to see if either one has ever had holes drilled or material added to it. If so then bring them both in.

He said if they both look untouched then just bolt it up and go.

It is $75 for him to do...just an FYI for anyone else.

Thanks for the heads up. For 35 dollars I will have them balance even if I don't see anything.

            Where abouts in Alrington?

Right downtown central. I can remember what street, but in the UTA area, IIRC.
