Save yourself a big headache and get a kit from time-sert! greenbullitt turned me on to them when I had to do my m-n-l's expy and I couldn't have been happier! It was easy and will last longer than a helicoil kit.

Its not that expensive and well worth having in your toolbox.

                  .

I'll check with her, it was her car so she bought the kit . If so all you'll need is an insert for the head, well however many inserts you need.

its a 5.4 triton. Not sure on size. I will have to look. I think inserts are $40ish. I am more than willing to buy beer and provide a deposit. Would need for one day, two tops

Tap and the Insert tool is about 6 inch long so there MIGHT be a clearence issue with other stuff in the way.
                        Just an F.Y.I.
                        Beer is good.

Oreilly's sells a repair kit, it comes with a thread in adapter, a shorter spark plug boot, and a spark plug like the new 3 valves use. Best I remember it was 60 or 70 bucks. One Kit repairs 1 cylinder.
