My first thought was control arm bushings, they were dry and nasty so I replaced the lower control arms with stockers with poly bushings, checked the torque box for damage while I was there and everything looks good.
I get the sound when I take off from a stop sign, go from reverse to forward vise versa, or when I decel and then accel while coasting. It happens right as I let out of the clutch. It does not do it while turning or hitting bumps.
If I hold the brakes and keep the car fro moving and slowly let out the clutch without stalling in forward or reverse it does not do it.
What is this? The rear end is trash, the ring and pinion and wheel/axle bearings and diff clutches are crap. The gears howl like nobodys business, and there is excessive axle play.
Could this be excessive backlash from worn out gears? Side/spyder gears?
A torque box?
It started doing this a while back and has gotten worse over time. I don't get on the car much at all, and I've only made 5 passes at the track, 2 of which were on street tires. It was getting 2.0 60fts with easy launch on slicks.. 1 tire fire..
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
