My daily is a 2000 v6 auto. Its been parked for a couple months and started leaking transmission fluid really bad. Today I decided to fix it. Got under it and couldn't pin point the leak but all the pan bolts were dripping oil so I pulled the pan to check the gasket and it looks OK. Read a little online and people say the dipstick o ring leaks. How do I check it? Also when I pulled the pan this yellow plastic top looking piece was floating around. What is it and where does it go. Any help would be much appreciated

the yellow piece you refer to is most likely part of the plug for the vss hole on the tailhousing. this is usually the first place it will leak. easy fix. $1.00 o-ring. the trans dipstick is press fit with an o-ring. my leaked after my converter install, so we added some rtv along with a new o-ring. let it set up and it shouldn't leak again.
