  • Today is a good day...open to ideas.

So, I mentioned through a few other posts that I picked up an '89 coupe. Well, after getting a bonus and paying off a few things, I've got $4000 to spend on parts to make this car better. Keep in mind, my limit is $4000 and not a penny more.

I'd like to do a power adder, whether it be the on 3 performance turbo kit, Vortech, or nitrous/heads/intake and a better cam on the motor I have now and just build a better motor later on down the road. I'll have to upgrade injectors, fuel pump, and tune with whatever I do, so keep this in mind with the $4000 limit.

What would be the best way to spend this money on the coupe?

So far here is what the car has:

    Stock bottom end 302
    Stock intake manifold
    351w heads
    B cam
    70 mm throttlebody
    BBK CAI
    BBK shorty headers
    X-pipe and full exhaust
Underdrives w/ AC and Smog pump delete
Tremec T-5 w/ hurst short throw
    8.8 rear end w/ 3.73s.

    Best way to spend 4k?

Also, if I get a power adder I'd probably pick up the Anderson PMS which is about a grand in itself.

Sounds like a hell of a deal, but I'm going to do suspension later. I'd rather build up the drivetrain. The car hooks now.

Are you doing the work or does 4k include labor?

Another vote for Maximum Motorsport maximum Grip Box. And then upgrade to SN95 hubs/rear disc.

Not trying to argue, but why this? I was told I should do suspension as it needs to be done. This kit seems pretty badass, but can you justify spending it when the car hooks up fine now?

It makes the car much more fun to drive everyday. Out of all the crap I've messed with on my car the above suspension and brakes was the best money spent in my opinion and I kick myself for not doing it first.

I went from basically a stock setup with some HPM and SSM rear control arms with 15-inch 10 holes to all MM stuff with cobra brakes and 17-inch wheels. Night and day difference and the car is actually fun to drive.
