For some reason, the junkyards think that the 5.4L is made of solid gold. I was considering one in my old 98 stang, but couldn't find one cheaper than $1500. If your heads are OK, you can sometimes find a 5.4L block in the $500 range.

I picked up a complete top to bottom 99 navigator 5.4 with 32v heads for 350.00 with the harness. The bad part the block had 2 cracks in it but then found 99 expidition block for 100.00.
