  • Home grown paint booths...show me your setup!

I'm about to do a lot of painting on the wife's camaro at our shop and don't want to make a mess in the shop or let all the dust from the neighboring millwork shop ruin my work. Going to be a couple stages of primer, 2 base and at least one clear coat so it will be up for a while.

Show me your setups for shooting a car at home that worked well for you!

    Thanks!

TurboCobra on here also has a very similar booth in his garage. I'm sure he'll chime in soon.

I've done a few panel jobs in my garage.
      At the very least.
Get something to pull the air out of the garage like a carpet dryer.
      Wet the floor.
Tape off the walls and cover the floors.

my paint dealer told me to use roofing (tar) paper on the floor instead of wetting it down, said that it would attract all air borne dust. it makes sense, it's sticky. I haven't done any work lately to try it but I might next time.

Spraying down the garage floor with a $20 sprayer from home depot sounds a whole lot easier, not to mention an easier clean up.

I agree but with water on the floor you still have to be extremely careful not to kick up any water onto the car. Don't ask me how I know.
