Well I haven't had time to look for a vacuum leak yet but I plan to this week end. I replaced the o rings on top of the compressor and got it blowing ice cold again. The issue with it blowing through the defrost at idle remains. Since the install of the ac components, the car has had trouble idling. It is hanging around 500 rpms and will even die on its own. It never had issues before I put ac back on and it dies this with or with out the ac on. When I turn the ac on, it is even worse but it is already idling too low with it off. In regards to the vacuum canister, i am fairly certain mine is not hooked up. The check valve(if that's what its called) on the passenger side firewall that has the small vacuum line ran from the tree has a vacuum cap on it and there are no lines ran into that fender. Could this be part of the problem given the fact that it idled perfect before adding ac? Also the brakes have reached a point of serious concern. I think maybe in part to low idle/ vacuum, when I'm backing out or coming to a stop, its like there is no assist and the breaks are extremely hard giving me a scare more than once that I wasn't going to be able to stop the car.

You need to put that vacc ball back under the fender. With brakes doing that it's time to go manual or drop some$$ on a vacc assist for your motor. Manual is the cheaper option. Pwr brakes vs manual are way diff.

Yep, need the a/c vacumm ball. Do you have a custom tune? The computer should kick the idle up withthe IC Valve. It might have been turned off since the car did not have a/c at the time. And 500rpm is kinda low.

It does have a custom tune... It us idling low regardless if the ac is on or not though. Is there something that would throw off the computer just by having the compressor and switch plugged in? I could unplugged them as a test. Also, thinking back, I fud have the battery disconnected when i did the 3g alternator upgrade. Maybe this affected it?
