The V6 4R70W uses 1 less clutch plate than the V8 4R70W and it is recommended to add it to the V6 trans if you are putting it behind a stout V8.
#1 is correct, #2 is not a bad suggestion, but can be overcome by adjusting the epc...more line! the v6 spec will take 500hp if tuned right.

How would you wire it to a 95 aode stang. Mine was rebuilt before I got the car and it sucks. Its rolls into 2-3 and slams into 4 th. Would like to put one on my stang.

i was talking about for teamjacob's 351w car (not sure how much power he is making, but add some spray and he'd be in glide country i suppose)

302 Explorer 4r70 will work, not sure about the possilbe length difference. We out it in a 393 windsor 87 coupe, fast xfi, baumann contoller and eventually a 76mm hair drier. Did a 4r70 swap in my 98 also, using the baumann there. And put one in a 93 lightning, fast xfi, vortech, e4od, @750 HP at crank.

I really like the baumann, as stated easy to configure, adjust shift points, etc. I highly recommend the upgraded stub shaft in the trans if there is or ever will be a power added. First part to usually break/twist/snap from my understanding. $100+ bucks for something s little bigger than your thumb.

I swapped in a 4R70W a few years ago. I have the older Baumannator (new at the time) and it is badass. EVERY aspect of your transmission is programmable, even to the time differential between when it drops into gear and when the converter locks up. I was talking to the guys at Baumann a couple of month ago, and evidently the Optishift is even better. Unbelievable.

Some things you need to know.
-The newer 4R and the AOD have different style shifter cables. Be prepared to do some minor fabbing, or install a late model (or aftermarket) shifter.
-The 4R case is wider than the AOD case. I had to make some room for the shifter linkage at the transmission with a BFH and I had to home fab a heat shield so the driver side exhaust (BBK H w/cats) would not cook the shifter cable.
-DO NOT BUY A CONVERTER from Art Carr in Abilene. They can't find their asses with both hands and written instructions, and their "customer service" is laughable.
-PM me if you want to get more insight.
