  • Who is our resident transmission guy?

    07 F250 6.0 4wd Torqshift trans automatic.

Prestige is telling me it is full of metal shavings and a new unit is 4400.

At 109584 it's toast. I hate this damned truck.

I'm heading out so if someone can hook me up with a reman please call me. Economy in Mckinney is quoting 2550...

You bought it used, that thing may have been dogged when you got it and I still believe you had a bad tune. I got 192k miles out of my stocker pulling trailers before it shit the bed, and that was with a more aggressive tune than you had.

Mike my 04 F150s went at 80k miles. Ford actually replaced mine, and slapped a nice big cooler in the front. I was looking at about 3k for mine. I have no idea why these new transmissions are so damn expensive.

Electronics and because they can charge so much. Vehicle prices have skyrocketed so it isnt as simple or cheap just to replace the vehicle.

I used to think Foxbody transmissions were expensive. I lucked out with my truck, as ford replaced it under warranty.

I've had problems with two 5r100. One was the front pump, the other was the convertor. Both had over 125k and pulled a gooseneck for everyone of those miles.

I had a friend rebuild them and I'd go reman on the next one without a doubt. The solenoids alone are close to $700 if you replace them all. I think I had almost $1,600 in parts on the last one counting convertor.

I will say they are a rare failure at stock power levels. I know of several that have gone over 250k miles without a problem, and they were beat on work trucks.

Either this guy since everyone talks great about him..............or call Davey at I35 transmission and ask him about pricing. He does all my gears and transmission stuff. He is close to me but he also has a really good builder and backs his warranty.
