You'd be hard pressed to put anything in there for less than $1500 that's gonna last. You could put multiple $800 trannies in there only to have to keep fixing or replacing them. I paid over $2000 for mine and I've heard of guys breaking lots of "bulletproof" setups. 600rwhp is a handful.

if it can be done for 1500, thats not too bad. i would go auto if it was any cheaper but from what ive gathered, a good auto set up will be the same if not more

The shifter location is weird, but an M5R2 RKE is a beastly 5 speed. Should handle that power level stock.

Yeah, it sits back thanks to the shifter location on the t-bird SC. Still, it's cheap and tough.

Are you serious? That's nothing more than a F150 5 speed transmission with a different shift top on it. I would go T56 or T56 Magnum. Quality cost money.

Is it a turbo car? Id rather have a 5 speed over the 6 speed.

For a auto option build a AOD, for a standard shift get a tremec. That is all you need to know.

Let me know how soon you're planning to buy one. Maybe we can work something out on mine. I'm still in the process of tearing my car down (down to the shortblock right now) and plan on pulling the whole thing out still connected to the sb and going back with a stocker to sell the car. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk about it more.

You know what kind of power levels the super coupes are running? It's fucking insane. Even with minor bolt ons you start seeing torque in the 350RW range and with an upgraded blower, you start seeing 500RWtq in a car that weighs 4100lbs.

I know of at least one guy running a 630RWP thunderbird SC with the stock M5R2 and the only issues he had was the syncro rings. You will not break that transmission.

Yeah you can break it. It still has a 10 spline input shaft in the front of it and the gears/syncros are not designed for higher rpm shifts which is required from a 600 hp gasoline powered engine.

Internally, they are about on par with a TR3650 in gear size, syncro ring type and shift rail designs. Over all, they are about the same strength too with a slight disadvantage from not having a carbon fiber lined ring in it. I have built a shit of the F150 and Ranger units over the years.

The M5R2 RKE has fiber lined snycros. You're the expert on transmissions, but I know my Super Coupes. I haven't seen a single case of broken gears or input shafts on one of these transmissions.
