That's ok, it happens in my garage too. Not as much since we had our baby but I sneak out there when I can.

So I assume that your 85 is a factory auto since it is CFI . Its a pretty simple swap and you can go cheep and mod factory parts or use an electric pump and run new lines . It all depends on the budget . If you stay auto and aod you will either need to modify your tv rod and get a carb with the ford kickdown or use a lokar cable with any carb . I will recomend you stay holley style on the carb and stay away from the carter/edl style but thats just my prefrence . The rest is easy .

you can just use a carb regulator and the factory fuel pump

I'd probably prefer to do it that way since I replaced the tank and pump not that long ago. Does it negatively effect the life of the pump since the CFI setup is meant to run at higher fuel pressure than the carb?

The regulator just cycles the fuel thru the system so its not like its a dead head setup and stresses the pump . Its just like running a smaller motor that doesn't use as much fuel . I wouldn't run a 255 or something but a stock pump should live fine . You just have to pick the correct regulator and plum it in and run a hot switch wire to the pump relay .

BRR is a bunch of 4-eyed lovin greese monkeys who like to go fast and build cars on the cheep . Lots of cool people with a love of the hobby and who are not afraid to get dirty to help the next guy get his project done . We have lots of freindly shit talking and racing to . We also work on more than just the 4-eyes but we prefer them .
