Rusert machine did my can install, but the motor was out as they are a full service machine / engine builder shop. Search short runner intake on corral.net there's a guy on there that does them. Quiet a few guys running his intakes. Spin it too hard and the bottom end of the motor wont like you though.

greenbullitt (or however you spell his SN) should be able to do it.

As far as the conversation goes : I have some of the most aggressive 4V cams out there on the market, with a stroked 4.6L cobra motor. I can tell you right now, that the intake on my car is the severe limiting factor in making power. With these cams, i should be making peak power much higher, and hold power. But as of now, i make peak power at about 6400-6500, and thats with a ported out intake, but stock length.

Next up on the list is a cut/welded intake or a sullivan, which is a hell of a lot more expensive than cut/welded.

i pmed him about it and the problem is nobody wants to do it with the stock cam gears, cause you have to grind on the key ways to get them to the degree you want. and if you buy adjustable cam gears then that takes away from the hp per dollar mod you get. i think the cam gears themselves are like 500 plus install. now your up there with aftermarket cams.

I can also degree the cams. You will have to buy the cam sprockets to degree the cams correctly though. I'm going to degree my new cams I have. It is very time consuming to degree the 4v cams.

You will only need the multi key secondary cam sprockets and keys and they are about $45 each. You should only need two of them unless the cams are way out then you will need 4. to advance the intake cams more. You don't need adjustable primary gears that cost a shit load of money, but you might need the multi key crank gears if your exhause cam is way off.

With stock 96-98 cobra cams, navigator heads, and 01 cobra intake I put 560 to the wheels, granted that was with 21 pounds of boost and through and automatic, would have been 600+ with a stick most likely.

Was that through a 4r70w I guess autos steal a lot of hp but 560 seems low for 21 pounds but I guess that's were the auto comes into play

Yeah, through a 4r70 with a pi converter using baumann's controller. I swapped from crower stage 3 blower cams and a tko500 to the auto and figured I'd lose @ 100hp at the wheels, from the added drivetrain loss with the auto mostly. Went from 655 rwhp to 560 rw. Boost went from 18 psi up to 21 psi just from the cam change.

So you swapped blower cams for the cobra cams ? What mods have you done the auto to help it hold up ? I've heard of the j modding but that's about it

I bought the car with the motor built and still needing ignition, fuel system, and other work done. Once I got it up and running I took it for tuning. It had some goofy driveability issues, the tuner had seen similar type issues I was having with some off the self cams. I didn't have records of the engine build stuff, just a receipt with generic info on it. So I pulled the motor out and shipped it down to my engine builder for the cam swap and headgaskets (thought I had one seeping under high boost). Long story short it had some mechanical issues with the timing components from the original builder. I went ahead with the cam swap and sold off the crowers to cover the extra fees at the machine shop.

As for as the trans goes. I've got a friend that builds them. I know it got the upgraded stub shaft, extra \ stronger clutches, along with any supporting mods \ upgrades needed to make it live with extra HP. This is the 3rd trans controller I've installed from Baumann Engineering (One in the trans builders Gen 1 Lightning along with FAST XFI, His 87 393 Stroker coupe, it got a 4r70, and Fast XFI also, and my 98 GT). For the money they can't be beat. It's extremely simple to configure and adjust, and they make controllers for several different transmissions.
