Has the ignition switch ever been replaced?

It's pretty easy, pretty cheap, and can cause similar issues. I had a car that the fuel pump wouldn't prime/energize with key on. You had to hold the key to 'start' (which also cranks the starter) in order to get the fuel pump to run. Ended up being the ignition switch.

It depends on the year, if I am not mistaken its either 88 or 89 for the cut off then it went on the passenger side fenderwell. The pump stay on is a common symptom for those switches. Check the fenderwell before taking the seat out. Trust me on this.

You said you have two pumps? Are they both stuck on? Are they both wired together or is the second pump on a different circuit? Also what dizzy did you replace it with ? I had one from a parts store do something very similar right out of the box not long ago. Did you spray the engine with water at the car wash? You may gotten water in the salt&pepper connectors etc. As far as the maf goes just unplugg it fo a crude test. If it runs better unplugged it could be a issue.

if I'm not mistaken the TFI module can cause all the issues you are having as well. I would bet that's the issue. Did the new dizzy come with the tfi?

Second pump is booster pump on separate Relay but switched on from main,
As for the Dizzy it's a new one from O'Reillys I think Canadian brand Rich Porter technologies, can't find a stocker.
                    Did not wash the engine
Gonna try the MAF test in a bit thanks for the tip.

due to the minor improvements made to the polution control system

I switched chip position to "Stock" fired up smooth stayed on for about
5 minutes then it died, unable to get it going again.

I don't think the "stock" setting is even stock. NO way that thing fired off without the chip. You would be flooding the piss out of it with 60# injectors. I would think the chip was to control the larger injectors. I'm really not even quite sure how it would be able to run at all with a stock tune setting. It would be running super rich with 60# injectors.
