Whoa, do not torque the upper to the lower that much. Anything between 18-25 ft-lbs is fine for the lower. Upper to lower doesn't require as much as all you're sealing is airflow (no fluids). Hand tight is fine. Follow the correct sequence when torquing the lower.

lower intake is around 30 ft lbs. make sure to run the sequence multiple times as typically the gasket will need to crush and you will find that not all of them will be at the correct torque the first time around.

wow, had it way wrong! Oh well, thank god there is always someone on this site with the correct info.

BTW, I don't think finger tight will cut it though. Just my .02

Agreed, finger tight might not be enough. That's why I said hand tight. As in, no torque wrench needed, but still tight. :-)

Buy a Chilton book. The questions you ask on here can normally be found in that book.

Yikes, that seems high, I usually do 22 or so, def run the sequence multiple times.

Upper to lower is 12-18 foot lbs per spec out of the shop manual. I just put my upper on like * month ago. Start in middle and work your way out, there is no sequence like the lower has, just do them consistently and keep torquiing them till it stops turning at 18.. I ran mine 6 times with 2-5 minutes between.

Lower is much more critical to seat the gaskets, but upper is important to so u don't have a vacuum leak.
