And I bet they are bone stock. Get rid of all the mission stuff and put a tuner on it, the 6.4 is or maybe more reliable then the 7.3

Kinda hard to talk a government entity into that. I've seen a lot of 6.0's done like that and be tons more reliable.

Out of curiosity what's the egr and dpf delete kit cost?

just shut up... not everyone buys a $50-60k truck to tune it, take off emissions equipment, etc. Many people buy these for work and expect them to work correctly without problems straight out of the box. Just because you think a tune and removing emissions stuff makes it an awesome truck, that doesnt satisfy probably 95% of the owners out there.

What is your truck doing? Dont see many or hardly any 7.3's with head gasket issues.

Are you getting diesel in your coolant by any chance?

And if you delete the emissions stuff from a 6.4 they are pretty relaible but I would stay away from 189k mileage one unless you can get it real cheap.

Ok cummin boy. Who asked you to come in here? And if people want to make their trucks more reliable and not have too many issues with these new trucks, then you need to delete all the emissions stuff and get a tuner. Even forrest got a 6.4 and he is supposedly diesel god on this site. And guess what was the first things he did to his truck. Tune and delete emissions stuff. So why don't you shut your cum dumpster up.

It is randomly puking out antifreeze and the heater blows cold occasionally. I replaced the water pump and thermostat and thought I had the problem fixed. I drove it to Denver and back, which is about a 1200 mile trip, shortly after that with no issues at all. A couple of days later I started it and pulled it out of the shop and let it idle for about 20 minutes and it puked all over the place. Took it to a local diesel shop and they told me they were pretty sure it was a head gasket and then told me that they didn't do head gasket work. I asked around for references on a shop that would do head gaskets and talked to a couple more shops. They are all basically saying the same thing.

As a owner of a 6.4 they are awesome without a tune. As a owner of two stock ones they are 8mpg turds. The 09 has been flawless minus a radiator at 60k miles, which is funny because I've ran over 20 6.0 and never put a radiator in one. The 08 I traded in was a POS TURD lemon of a truck, which is normal for a first run 08 (purchased sept 07). It had every problem in the book and would regen half of a tank a fuel in 150 miles. I traded it in on a low mile 6.0

Please... with a Cummins you dont need to modify it to be reliable. And honestly, with the cost of the truck, you shouldnt have to dump another $1000-2500 to make it reliable and void your warranty at the same time.

Don't know how many 6.0 and 6.4 trucks I've seen at the dealer with the cabs lifted off (easiest and about only way to work on motor) for repair work. 6.0 was a junk pile. 6.4 needs fuel filters serviced every 10k miles (at most) it only takes a very little amount of water contamination to kill the fuel system (talking about $9k in repairs). I talked to an inspector that goes around and physically tears the pumps apart on these (for the dealers) if there is any moisture damage at all they will kick the warranty out unless you have very meticulous maintenance records of fuel system maintenance (best if performed by the dealerships to help cover your ass).

7.3 may not be the power house the 6.4's are but the dependability is far greater.

Badass2000gt, how many miles do you have on your 2010 with the emissions crap pulled and tune on it. I assume it's not a 186k or 222k yet. I've got a buddy with a 6.4 with dpf delete, intake, exhaust, and I believe a spartan tuner. Runs awesome on the 220hp tune, stupid crazy on the 250hp tune, however it's had the cab pulled at least once since he's owned it. Just happens that he's in pretty good with the local dealer guys. Speak of the devil he just pulled in the parking lot.... later.

I have spent more than enough time around them. I dont feel comfortable enough with the fuel systems to own one. They run great, but I wouldnt want one. Oh, and the rocker assys are junk.
