Ive got this tuned close i think but I have a few questions. (I know the proper way is to use some sort of gauge. I dont have that option at the moment) its a Lokar TV cable attached to a Holley 4160 600cfm carb. Trans is a AOD that was rebuilt and a mild shift kit installed.
1. When matting the gas when cruising at, say 45 mph, it should drop into 2nd or 1st gear correct? It doesn't like kicking down past one gear Ive noticed. if in 3rd gear and you mat the gas, itll only touch 2nd. THat a TV adjustment or something else?
2. When accelerating hard from a dead stop, the trans will stay in 1st gear only till about 4100-4200 rpms before shifting. Regardless of how hard the gas is matted.
The transmission does NOT slip or give any indication of going bad. Shifts like it should when cruising or getting on it, it just seems to not be shifting when it should.
Currently I have the Lokar cable adjusted to where there is no slack in the cable. I believe that any more adjustment (tightness of cable) would bottom it out when at WOT.
