  • Question for those who restore cars...

Is there an automotive specific electrical tape on the Market? One that lasts as long as factory stuff?

I'm trying to rewrap a lot of the wires in the engine bay. Time, heat and corrosion has done a number in several places on the wiring harness'. The corrugated loom covers only do so much, and there are places where the factory wires (junctions and such) were wrapped with a tape.
Any tape I have ever found/used lasts all of about a week.
    Watcha got?

I always just use, 3m electrical tape. It seems to hold up just fine.

Correct. The 3M tape is the only one that has any quality, out of all that I have tried.

instead of using 3m and wrapping the entire wiring harness, i use a vinyl tape that is non stick tape.
(wiring harness tape) is what firewheel classics calls it,then i find the appropriate size heat shrink and slide it over on the ends, when heat shrink is not an option, i use 3M super 33.

                  Thanks for the replies.
I always use shrink wrap when I've spliced lines, but in this case it's not an option. I'm dealing with the bigassed junctions/Ys in several places on the harness.

Picked up some Super 33 yesterday at Home Depot, and right next to it was the spray on stuff krazy kris mentioned. I'm tempted to use it in places where neither tape or loom wrap will work.

Fleece tape. It is on the right side of the screen.
